For the first time in almost 40 (!) years, I spent my birthday sick. Laid up with the flu, in fact. Still, when you're blessed like I am, a runny nose and eyes plus head congestion 2ft thick can't stop a good time and a fantastic celebration. All my family called and sang happy birthday. (Seriously, is there anything more heartbreaking than small child voices calling "we miss you!" from 2K miles away into an answering machine?) Next,
we ate tapas. Then, My Beloved took me
to a Liszt concert, which was phen.nom.men.al! The pieces performed were written decades, some 40 years, apart, but Mr. Cohen arranged them into a beautiful, seamless emotional landscape. It was such a delight!
Here's a pic of me with my BFF at her birthday party (we're 2 days apart!):
Two Libras!
