At the Tone the Time Will Be

School starts again this week.  I've registered for two courses: Ethics in Science Rhetoric, and Science Rhetoric.  It'll be a lot of writing and reading.  Close inspection of the nature of scientific discourse sounds very academic to me and a bit like studying something for the sake of knowing more rather than knowing something meaningful and productive.  However, school is meant to be academic and my task is to translate that new knowledge into something practical, I guess.  It's all making me very paranoid about my own day-to-day speech.

Suffice to say, however, that my nights will be filled with academic papers about scientific papers and preparing presentations and study guide questions.  One of these courses is also an undergraduate course.  I did not enjoy that at all last quarter, so there is a fair chance I'll drop it.  I certainly hope this quarter's crop of budding young scholars is a bit more engaged.  Lord, how I would hate to be a professor in this day and age!

  1. As if when you were an undergrad y'all were more engaged! LOL.

"Close inspection of the nature of scientific discourse" eh? What IS the nature of scientific discourse? Looking forward to your write-ups...
