You're Deal

Tonight, with my FIL and his wife, we played cards - a new card game that a woman they know invented (how cool is that!).  It was a cross between Phase 10 and Canasta.  We usually play cards with them when we visit, and I love it!  My FIL talks a lot of smack and my BIL calls him on it, so it makes for some hilarious banter.  Throw in increasing #s of rum-n-cokes and it's the kind of grown-up evening that, as a kid, you'd have stole downstairs to spy on.

My FIL's wife, unfortunately, has a job which requires her to keep the same kind of hours as a milkman, so she usually taps out early.  It's not fair, really, because she does her best to stay awake and, truth be told, it is sooo tempting to take advantage of her sleepiness.  Especially when playing stupid Uno (thanks, Jill!).

It's been a busy traveling day, and I woke up yesterday with a sore throat which feels a lot like strep.  It's hard to be winsome and polite when I just want to hole up in bed with my e-book.  It's times like these that being a grown up sucks.
