(written yesterday)
I spent all day in the yard and have misquito bites the size of silver dollars and two bee stings. Today was my first day of yard work all year, much to the chagrin of my beloved (it's July!). Our family is coming to visit in 2 weeks, and it's important to my husband that the place look nice.
Whenever I work in the yard, one word echoes in my mind "biomass." I seem to fill bag after bag of rose branches, weeds, and culls of mint and lemon balm. It seems there should be more I could do with all that yard waste.
Now, it's 7:34 pm and I'm sitting on the back porch, sipping a shandy and drinking in life. Neighbors to one side have a group of friends over for a barbecue and game of horseshoes. Other neighbors have grandparents over, and the twin grand boys are showing off their mad stick-twirling jujitsu skills. The air promises a thunderstorm in several hours, but for now it's a cooling after burn from a typical scorching PA summer day. I just feel like I could go around hugging everyone, I'm so damn happy and grateful.
